Darzalex (Daratumumab) is a promising new FDA approved immunotherapy for treating multiple myeloma cancer, which is currently the 3rd most commonly diagnosed blood cancer in the United States. Darzalex is approved for the treatment of patients with #multiplemyeloma who have received at least 3 or more prior types of myeloma treatments.
Multiple #myeloma occurs when malignant plasma cells uncontrollably grow in the bone marrow, producing too much of a protein called CD38 which can result in cancerous tumor growth. Used as a targeted therapy, Darzalex searches for these malignant cells to destroy them.
